set before us. The spirit of C[hris]t gathered up
not merely the circumstances of David,
but gathers up the circumstances and
history of Israel, & makes the heart of
David the tablet on wh[ich] these are written
--all centered in C[hris]t. He goes on till he sets
up Jesus Christ over his enemies. Head
of the Heathen; nothing of deeper interest
in this way than to see how the Spirit takes
up some portion of David's life, and makes
that little portion a tablet upon wh[ich] to in-
scribe the history & the feelings of C[hris]t and
the actings of Israel. thus unfolding God's
purposes, and all those purposes headed
up in C[hris]t. Thus the difficulty of speaking
on this Chapter, because of the wonderful
riches of the matter, & the power of the Sp[iri]t
in gathering up in his word the mind
