Some time between 1861 and 1871, Edward Ezekiel Crocker (aged c.30 years), the publisher of these "Hymns and Poems", had married a widow, Mrs Elizabeth Yerbury. The author of these poems is described in the editor's preface as 'long since fallen asleep in Jesus' and was almost certainly William, the first husband of Mrs Elizabeth Yerbury.
