Some time between 1861 and 1871, Edward Ezekiel Crocker (aged c.30 years), the publisher of these "Hymns and Poems", had married a widow, Mrs Elizabeth Yerbury. The author of these poems is described in the editor's preface as 'long since fallen asleep in Jesus' and was almost certainly William, the first husband of Mrs Elizabeth Yerbury. Crocker later published JND's 'Notes on Romans' in 1870. Timothy Stunt

The marriage took place on 29 Jul 1861 at the Register Office, Clerkenwell. Edward was about 26, Elizabeth about 40. Edward had been baptised (as such) on 1 Nov 1834 at East Woodhay, Hampshire, and again on 8 Feb 1835 (as 'Edward Ezekiel').
